Here  you will find race information, race announcement, race sign up links and other Youth Ski League Information.  Mt. Hood Youth Ski League is for U8, U10 and U12 athletes on Mt. Hood.

February 24 - MHRTA Ski-A-Thon - A Full Team Event
March 29-31 - Buddy Werner Championships (U12 Only) Need USSS License at Mission Ridge (SL, GS, Skills Quest)
April 12-14 - May Day Races - Mt. Bachelor (U8-U16)
April 27-28 - Golden Rose Races and Team Awards - Timberline

Registration
INDIVIDUAL ENTRY is done electronically using the links below. Parents, it is not the responsibility of your Club to register your children for these races. If you do not register them individually by the deadline given, they may not be allowed to compete.

Entry Fees
Determined by the Race Organizer. 

Entry Deadline
An Entry Deadline will be stipulated on each Race Announcement. Late Entry fees will apply if athletes register past the registration deadline. No day of race entries. 

Release Forms
Parent or legal guardian must sign and submit the proper ski area release form prior to the event. Only one release form per ski area is required each year. The release form will be attached to each Race Announcement.

Racer Classification
Age Classes: U14 (ages 12 & 13), U12 (ages 10 & 11), U10 (ages 8 & 9) and U8 (ages 7 and younger). The racer's age is determined as of December 31st and will apply for the entire season.

Race Day Awards
Awards are presented to each age class, girls and boys. 1st through 3rd place will generally receive a trophy. 4th through 10th place will generally receive a medal.

Volunteerism
It is recommended that Parent Volunteers hold a US Ski & Snowboard Volunteer Membership and complete SafeSport Training.

Non-Volunteers/Spectators are not allowed inside the Race Venue which includes the Start Area. This is for the safety of the athletes who are racing as well as spectators. The base of the venue outside of the Finish Corral, and along the course outside of the rope line are the best places to watch the event.

General Race-day Procedures
Registration and daily schedule will be announced by the Race Organizer and sent out via a Race Announcement. 

Bibs must be returned after each race. A fine of $75 will be assessed to the racer for a missing or lost bib.

Competition Rules

• The Race Jury will oversee the proper conduct of the competition. The Jury will be led by the Referee, who will be elected from the visiting coaches. The Chief of Race and the Chief of Course, provided by the host team, are the other two members of the Jury.

• The Race Jury will have the final say regarding all competition disputes and racer disqualifications.

• Courses are closed to competitors except during inspection time.

• Loss of ski: If a racer's ski comes off during a race run, the racer will automatically be disqualified for that run and must move to the side of the course as quickly as possible. Exception: a racer may ski through the last gate and finish the course on one ski.

• Hiking: A racer may hike to a missed gate in SL and GS and may also finish the course if overtaken by the following racer. However, the competitor will be disqualified if not yielding to the overtaking racer.

• All racers, coaches, officials and parents are expected to abide by US Ski and Snowboard’s Code of Conduct. Go to www.ussa.org to review the Code of Conduct.

• Unsportsmanlike conduct is a basis for disqualification and can be implemented by any member of the Jury or Coach that witnesses the behavior.

• Protective head gear is required for all races.

• Mt. Hood Youth Ski League Annual Awards. Scoring: All MHYSL races will be counted, as long as all race runs were concluded. The scoring will be by "MHYSL Points" awarded to the top 5 finishers of each gender (1st = 5, 2nd = 4, 3rd = 3, 4th = 2, 5th = 1) Points are only assigned to U12 and U10 racers.
